Competition for women
The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski won the overall competition after maintaining her lead all the way. Tall and Eramoo Connell were second and third, each. It was the first Games women's event and the women hoped to complete it.
The women's contest is filled with high-level athletes. The field comprises nine athletes, one of whom is a teenager who won the competition in Australia last summer. Other contenders are Australian athlete Kara Saunders, who finished second in Australia and eleventh worldwide in 2020. Andrea Nisler, a rising star who competed for the team division in 2018, finished third in America and fifteenth overall in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.
Pegboard contest
Pegboard contest at Crossfit Games 2121 was a new concept. Along with dumbbell overhead squats and double-unders, it was included in the Games' summer Olympic programme. With 30 wins, Toomey-Orr holds the record for the most Games events won. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. Although there were many ties, Toomey-Orr's dominance wasn't enough to prevent him from winning the contest.

CrossFit Games is a training program that focuses on 10 general fitness skills. These include strength, flexibility, power and speed as well as cardiovascular endurance. The Pegboard contest tests a competitor's grip strength and coordination. The athletes compete on a scale by holding two wooden pegs between their hands. The competition was fierce, and the athletes were left feeling a sense of accomplishment after completing the Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. It's not as extreme as the cuts used in past Games, but still very different than this year. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. The question is: How will CrossFit adjust points after cuts? The scoring table used during the 2019 games was almost identical to that used in 2021. It is likely that this will continue.
This year's CrossFit Games field includes 236 athletes. It is the largest ever. The first six events result in major cuts. The field is reduced to 75 athletes. To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. From there, the top 20 athletes compete in the remaining six events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announces new CrossFit Games clothing, shoes and other equipment. Nano X1 will be the new shoes. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Although Reebok calls this shoe "the shoe for fitness", it feels more like a training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar, which promotes durability, breathability, and strength, is the shoe's upper. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

CrossFit's sponsorship contract with Reebok is ending at the end of 2020. There will not be a title sponsor for the Games. Reebok sponsored the Games for more a decade. Now, it is obvious that the company will lessen its involvement. Reebok won't be funding the Games' prize fund, but will continue making all athletic apparel and equipment worn athletes by, including the Reebok gear. However, the company will no longer refer to itself as the "Reebok CrossFit Games" as it does now.
FAQ
Is Cardio Better Than Strength Training?
Both are equally great. If you want to increase muscle mass faster, cardio is the better option.

Strength training helps build muscle mass. But it takes longer than cardio to accomplish this goal.

Two main types of exercises are required for building muscle mass. These are the isolation exercises as well as compound movements. While compound movements focus on a single muscle, isolation exercises are focused on specific muscles.

What is the main difference between Aerobic Fitness or Anaerobic Fitness
Anaerobic fitness refers to the ability of our bodies to perform intense physical work without oxygen. Anaerobic pathways can be used to supply enough energy during high-intensity exercise. Anaerobic pathways include glycolysis and creatine phosphate.
Cardio fitness is, in contrast to aerobic fitness, the practice of sustaining low-intensity exercise. When doing aerobic exercises, oxygen serves as the primary source for fuel for the cells. In other terms, the aerobic pathway has more energy that the anaerobic.
For example, if you want to run a marathon, you must first build up your aerobic capacity. You won't be successful if you focus only on your anaerobic ability.
Aerobic fitness is also referred to as cardiovascular fitness. The two most common methods of measuring cardiovascular fitness are VO2 max testing and step tests.
Tests for VO2 Max
VO2 max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen (O2) used by the body during exercise. This test measures the amount of O2 the body can utilize while exercising.
This test measures cardiovascular fitness in a way that is most accurate. The test is difficult to administer because it requires expensive equipment.
Step Tests
Step tests are simple yet effective methods of measuring cardiovascular fitness. They involve walking or jogging on a treadmill or track for a certain duration based on your age and weight.
These tests cost little, are quick and simple to do, and can be carried out almost anywhere. You can, for example, walk for 2 minutes on a treadmill, then rest for 1 min, then repeat the process for 20 minutes. Then, stop. You should maintain a constant heart rate throughout the session.
This is the "Bruce Protocol". Bruce, himself a runner, created this protocol after realizing that he would not feel his heart rate increase when running longer distances.
